1.  The inclusion of a Code of Ethics

That the members present agree the following Code of Ethics be included in the Constitution':

(a) Members shall familiarize themselves with the Breed Standard, as approved by the Kennel Club, and attempt to breed and exhibit stock conforming as closely as possible to the Standard.

(b) Prior to breeding, stock to be Hip X-rayed and scored. Eye testing to be carried out within 12 months prior to breeding, under the appropriate KC/BVA scheme.

(c) Breeding only to be undertaken with stock that is proven to be sound both physically and mentally, and no breeding to be undertaken under the age of eighteen months or before the third season, at which time full maturity should be reached.

(d) Bitches to be bred no more than twice in succession, and this to be followed by a rest of at least one year.

(e) Stud dog owners to satisfy themselves of the condition in which ensuing litters would be raised.

f) Breeder to sell puppies in good health, exhibiting sound temperament, that are at least eight weeks of age, and accompanied by a diet sheet, details of worming and any inoculations administered. Puppies to be health checked by a Veterinary Surgeon before sale, including heart checks.

g) A full, signed pedigree to be available at the time of purchase together with any agreed terms of ownership and/or endorsement to control exhibition or breeding of progeny.

(h) Members will at all times maintain a high standard of health care for the Breed and make available information relating to the health of the breed, freely and openly, to the Club's Breed Welfare Officer.

(i) Breeders to make available to purchasers copies of the hip score sheets and eye test sheets of parents and other certificates that may be relevant to other currently known possible defects within the Breed, on request.

j) Members will properly house, feed, water and exercise all dogs under their care and arrange for appropriate veterinary attention if and when required.

(k) Members will not allow any of their dogs to roam at large, or to cause a nuisance to neighbours or those carrying out official duties.

(l) Members will ensure that their dogs shall wear properly tagged collars and shall be kept fully leashed or under effective control when away from home.

(m) Members will clean up after their dogs in public places or anywhere their dogs are being exhibited.

(n) Members will agree without reservation that any Veterinary Surgeon operating on any of their dogs which alters the natural conformation of the animal may report such operation to the Kennel Club.

(o) Members agree only to sell puppies and older dogs where there is a reasonable expectation of a happy and healthy life, and will help with the re-homing of a dog if the initial circumstances change.

(p) Members will provide written details of all dietary requirements for older dogs, in addition to those already noted, and will give guidance concerning responsible ownership when placing dogs of any age in a new home.

(q) Members will not sell any dog to commercial dog wholesalers, retail pet dealers, or directly or indirectly allow dogs to be given as a prize or donation in a competition of any kind.

(r) Members will not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the Breed, nor falsely advertise dogs, nor mislead any person regarding the quality or temperament of the dog.

(s) All members familiarize themselves with the facility offered by the Kennel Clubs endorsements for registering puppies. These endorsements should be used appropriately to protect the future of the breed. All owners should be made aware of any endorsements when purchasing puppies and sign a document stating they have understood and accept the endorsement's).

2.   Breed Welfare Officer

'That members present empower the committee to nominate one person to be designated as Breed Welfare Officer, to maintain and build a system of records to include KC/BVA schemes, registration statistics and general health issues and to track any national (and international) health developments.
