Spending most of the waking hours following, praising, correcting and generally wearing oneself into the ground and this is just the first week. Teaching it to come back, go out to toilet and stop every nasty habit it can think of. I distinctly remember mine bringing me a lovely hard “doggy doo” – ‘Look mum, I got you a present’ (Gee Wiz) Sitting on the bow window ledge pretending she was lady of the manor (boy, oh boy) Biting my ex’s bottom as he was walking in the garden (good girl) Doing back flips & head stands on the sofa (grief) Screaming & stamping her feet when put into her indoor cage (grrrrrrr) Helping clean up by attacking the Hoover, running off with the duster & playing with the polish tin (blooming heck) On top of those things going to ringcraft and running on her back legs, pulling so hard and diving on anything that was near enough to play with (oh, the shame) Jumping up & stretching one’s jumper so it is knee length (glad winter’s here) Bringing her empty food dish – Please mum can I have some more (Oh, what a sweetie) Sleeping for more than 10 minutes (bliss) Changing her mind in mid stride of doing something she shouldn’t (bless her) Standing still in the bath (glory be) Understanding the word ‘No’ even though it be temporary (joy) And I also remember her first giving me a kiss (ohhhhhhhh)
And I hope you all
noticed the negatives came before positives. I
think that means survival when owning a pon and of
course being a little insane helps.
